Inspired by and composed upon four evocative poems of Paul Pines, Daniel Asia’s The She Set is a choral cycle whose movements are titled “Isis in Despair” (celebrating the myth of Isis and Osiris), “Orpheus” (celebrating Eurydice), the longer third movement title “She,” of broader and more abstract celebration, capped by the epilogue “Prayer Before Drowning.” The She Set has been recorded by the BBC Singers, conducted by Odaline de la Martinez (Summit Records DCD550). Duration: 9′.
